over wages. we katie? >> protests just starting to get underway in southern california. we watching people come and go and sweat shirts are handed out and a man has a bullhorn. in new york workers have been at it for hours. >> you heard that as the day rolls out fast food employees in 100 cities will walk off the job of the workers in manhattan began the protest at 6:30. events are planned at lunch at some mcdonald's in san jose, oakland, and antioch. workers are asking for more money, a minimum wage of $15. that wage now is $7.25. that is $15,000 for a full time employees which is not enough. >> until we lit -- lift the workers up there is not a true recovery from the greatest recession since the depression. >> if the minimum wage goes up to $15 an hour food prices will go up and there will be fewer jobs. last month, rebound said he would back a senate measure to raise the minimum wage not to $15 but to $10.10 an hour. san francisco and san jose already pay $10 or more an hour on average. on average they make $9 an hour. >> governor brown hold as strong advantage over potential g.o

and firefighters still have not located the elderly man who lives in the unit. ktvu's katie utehs is live on the scene with the new information about this mobile park. good morning, katie. >> reporter: good morning, tori. i just got off the phone with san jose fire's public information officer. he says now that it is daylight, the plan to move forward, research this mobile home. as you can see, it's completely gutted. early this morning they got through 80% of the home. they still need to search through the kitchen. they hope that will give them more identification or contact info as they try to find the elderly man who lived here. they do not believe he was home at the time of the fire. let me show you some video and some pictures of the flames and smoke coming from the mobile home at casa mobile home park along monterey in san jose. the smoke could be seen with 101 -- could be seen from 101. the mobile home where the fire started is completely destroyed, as you've seen. they walked through the gutted home and believe the elderly homeowner was not in the unit at the time. they are still

in san jose. katie marzullo, what is the latest? >> c.h.p. says the highway will be closed for another hour with investigators on the freeway. the suspect is not identified only that he is "free." >> southbound interstate 5, empty of traffic and full of investigators. back up to 1:00 o'clock a.m., when c.h.p. officers were pursuing a suspect in stockton. the man was wanted for an attempted homicide in san jose. at some point, his car broke down on interstate 5 and c.h.p. called stockton police for backup. the suspect got out of the car. >> the suspect was yielding a knife and was not complying with orders so a stockton police officer fired the weapon, striking the weapon at least when time. >> the suspect died at the hospital and investigators say he was also wanted on suspicion of domestic violence. >> protocol for multiple answers to investigate when a police officer shoots someone and they take their time. the unseen portion of this investigation is now entering the 10th hour. >> fire investigators are trying to pinpoint the cause of an part building fire in the east bay that sent 5

as unicef's goodwill ambassador, world famous singer and song-writer, katy perry expressed her unconditional support for the most vulnerable children. katy's official appointment as the new unicef goodwill ambassador took place on tuesday at the organization's headquarters in new york. katy's journey with unicef began in april this year when she visited madagascar, one of the poorest countries of the world. she says the trip changed her life and inspired her songs. >> and a reminder. the little boy known as bat- kid will be back in san francisco tomorrow for a fundraiser for the 'make-a- wish' foundation. it's called "brave the bay" - and police officers and others will take part in a 5-k walk and run.also a cable car pulling contest. organizers are hoping to raise about 75-thousand dollars. 5 year old miles scott is now in remission from leukemia - and will lead the walk. >> in sports, robinson can- no signs the third richest contract in major-league baseball history. >> stanford looks ahead to tomorrow's pact 12 championship game. jason has a preview of your sports and championship game. j
